In March 2006 the well-known Hungarian fencers Pal Szekeres and Shandor Batuzy were invited to Russia for holding master-class and performances at “Moskovskaya Sablya” International Wheelchair Tournament. The fencers were met warmly and supported by 5000 spectators. To note – there is wheelchair fencing in only 17 countries all over the world. These performances gave impression about wheelchair fencing to a lot of representative from different fencing countries.

Fund "For future of Fencing" organized Open Cup of Russia in Wheelchair Fencing for the beginners. The 35 representatives from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia participated in the Open Cup.

European Fencing Confederation Handicap Commission organized seminar on Referee and Medical issues.  Luca Michelini and Jozsef Nagy, leaders of Medical and Referees Commission of International Wheelchair Fencing Committee were invited to Russia to conduct the seminar. Twenty five fencers were qualified and trained. Ten doctors, physiotherapists and referees from the above mentioned countries took part in special seminars and passed exams.

Wheelchair Fencing Commission organized Cadets Training Camp at the World Championships 2006 in Turin. Cadets from different countries lived in Turin Olympic Village and participated in the Training Camp. This kind of event greatly supported for the further development of wheelchair fencing all aver the world.

 

The foreseen plan for upcoming years is as follows:

-          2007,  second training camp in Warsaw (first was in Turin) including tournament where the fencers will compete in foil

-          2008,  third training camp including tournament

-          2009 First Cadet Championship

 

In Wheelchair fencing the European Championships are held two times every four year.

International Wheelchair Federation plans the following Olympic circle;

-          2009 Cadet World Championship

-          2010 Regional Championships

-          2011 Senior World Championship

-          2012 Paralympic Games

 

The importance of the teenagers wheelchair fencing is very high and our training camps encourage the development of the teenagers paralympic all over the world.

July 11-19, Warsaw, Poland

10 participant countries

During the European Championship for wheelchair fencers trainers and athletes from 14 to 17 years old will participate in Wheelchair fencing training camp getting acquainted with all weapons and will participate in the championship. The trainers will benefit by gaining unique experience and skills.
